Overview

The Western New York Regional Osteoporosis Resource Center is a unique linkage of local medical leaders with academic, community, and business partners all focused on advancing osteoporosis education in Western New York communities. The WNY Osteoporosis Resource Center has primary affiliations with all of the major health systems, and County Health Departments in Western New York as well as the University at Buffalo, University of Rochester, and many other academic institutions. These affiliations enhance the extensive medical, scientific, and research basis of the WNY Osteoporosis Resource Center by contributing locally specific insight and direction.

Partnerships

The WNY Osteoporosis Resource Center has a strong presence in the 8 counties of far Western New York, including partnerships with all the major regional health systems, Universities, County Health Departments, and health care agencies, and many Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs). The partnership is also enhanced by the participation of a wide range of community interest groups and businesses. Program outreach expansion efforts continue to strengthen the Center’s presence in all 17 counties of Western New York.

Community Educational Services:

  • Educational programs tailored to the age and interest of the audience on osteoporosis health education, nutrition, and exercise.
  • Regional seminars and conferences
  • Literature on a variety of the latest prevention and treatment topics
  • Media awareness outreach, including print, radio, and television.
  • The “Bone Phone” resource phone line
  • Linkages to area medical resources
  • Speakers Bureau available to speak on a variety of bone health topics for community organizations
  • Sponsor 3 WNY “Building Strength Together” Support Groups with a 4th Group to be added this Spring.

Professional Educational Services:

  • Regional conferences and seminars
  • Sponsor the Bone Club of WNY bone and rheumatology specialty journal group
  • Risk Assessment tools
  • Latest updates in osteoporosis
  • Clinical practice resources
  • Speakers Bureau
