Consumer Education Programs



Strong Bones for Life Through Exercise Programs (Course offered by Premier Fitness that involves registration and fee)
This program is designed specifically for people with or at risk of developing osteoporosis although anyone interested in promoting strong bones for life is invited to participate, as well. This 12-week series of supervised exercise classes follows the guidelines for safe, bone strengthening exercise developed by the New York State Osteoporosis Prevention and Education Program  (NYSOPEP). You will be able to chart your progress using a pre-assesment, mid-assessment, and post-assessment of your posture, strength, flexibility, and balance that is incorporated into this unique program. As part of this program you will have the opportunity to hear current, evidence based information about the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of osteoporosis by the professional NYSOPEP staff.

Time: 7:00pm to 9:00pm

Instructors:Lisa Jankun, Certified Personal Trainer
Fee: $199 (non-members of health club), $149 (members)

Basic Yoga (will be adapted for all levels of ability and for individuals with osteoporosis)

Time: 12:05 to 12:50 pm

Location: Helen Hayes Hospital Auditorium

Fee: $48 for all 6 sessions.
